Long’s Park: 1441 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601 Hundreds of thousands of families are now enjoying the fun and natural beauty in Long’s Park, thanks to the benevolence of Judge Henry Grimly Long and his daughter Catherine Long. Bequeathed to the City of Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1900, this 80-acre city park sits on the northwest corner of town at the intersection of Harrisburg Pike and Route 30. Each year the park is home to a whole host of activities including a free summer-long music series, a nationally acclaimed fine art and craft festival and the world's largest chicken barbecue. Long's Park also boasts other outdoor amenities (see map) including picnic pavilions, a petting farm, children's playgrounds, a three-acre, spring fed lake, tennis courts and a fitness trail. Click here for Park rules/regulations and Long's Park pavillion rental information.
In addition, a variety of recreational programs are available through the Lancaster Recreation Commission. The Rec Commission offers community recreation programs at all City of Lancaster and Lancaster Township parks and playgrounds, and at all public school buildings and grounds. Programs are available for people of all ages and include youth and adult instructional sports programs and leagues, senior centers, fitness and wellness classes, summer playgrounds and day camps, club activities, cultural arts programs, before and after school care, preschool activities and seasonal family events.
